The Harvey Norman NZ Breakers and all of New Zealand are gearing up for the last regular season home game before the Breakers’ first-ever Playoff debut – AND looking forward to tipping their cap to the League’s Greatest Bear. Tony “Bear” Ronaldson will play his 600th Australian NBL game when the Breakers host the Melbourne Tigers this Thursday at the North Shore Events Centre. Tony has only missed 15 games in 19 seasons, earning him the respect and reputation as one of the game’s great ironmen. No-one has won more NBL games (394, some 57 more than the next best) than Ronaldson and any post-season action for the Breakers would extend his record number of play-off appearances (79 games in total, eight more than the next best). The former Australian Boomer, a double Olympian and a gold medalist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, has played in seven NBL Grand Finals and been part of two Championship-winning teams in 1992 and 1996. Take a look at some of the media coverage this week, congratulating the Breakers and Tony on an incredible record and phenomenal journey.
