The Adelaide 36ers have signed exciting teenage talent Che Brogan as a development player for NBL26.
Brogan is a dynamic playmaker who is renowned for his inside scoring and ability to sniff out a steal.
The 19-year-old has represented Australia at Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19 level including at this year’s FIBA Under 19 World Cup where he led the side for assists and was second for steals.
The 6’6” forward grew up in Melbourne but went to high school in California in the United States and in Canberra while playing for Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence (COE) side in NBL1 East.
For the COE side, he averaged 13.7 points, four assists and 3.2 rebounds per game this season.
Brogan is the son of Australian Opals legend and Basketball Australia Hall of Famer Michelle Brogan, who was a star for the Adelaide Lightning in the 1990s. He is also the nephew of 1998 NBL Championship 36er Dean Brogan.
“Che has basketball in his blood but he has also put in the hard work to make the most of his talent,” said Adelaide 36ers General Manager of Basketball Operations Matt Weston.
“He’s dynamic and defends well, and even though he’s still so young, he’s shown an ability to perform at a high level against experienced players in the NBL1 competition.
"You can see that Che has developed in a High-Performance environment at the Centre of Excellent under coach Robbie McKinlay. I know first-hand that anyone that plays for Robbie is tough and has high basketball IQ.
“Che is really versatile and can play a few different roles, and we know he’ll continue to grow as a player by being in an NBL environment.”
Brogan joins brothers Deng Manyang and Magok Manyang as DPs for the Adelaide 36ers in NBL26.
To be eligible for a DP spot, players must be aged 24 years or younger for the duration of the NBL26 season.
Current 36ers Isaac White, Michael Harris and Keanu Rasmussen have come through the DP pathway.
