Invincibles 40th anniversary to be celebrated among theme rounds for NBL27

One of Australian basketball’s most remarkable seasons will be celebrated amongst a host of themed rounds at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre during the Adelaide 36ers’ Hungry Jack’s NBL27 season.

40 years on from their incredible feats, the Adelaide 36ers 1986 Invincibles side will be celebrated when the club hosts the Brisbane Bullets on Sunday, 1 November, thanks to club partner Australian Motors Wayville.

After going down to the Bullets in the 1985 decider, led by the late coach Ken Cole, Adelaide in 1986 had a 24-2 regular season record, including 13-0 at home at the old Apollo Stadium, before getting revenge on the Bullets with a grand final victory in a tough three-game series.

Other themed rounds this season include the Multicultural Round against the New Zealand Breakers on Sunday, 4 October, the Construction Industry Round against Melbourne United three days later with supporting partners Sterling Homes and SGP Civil, the Indigenous Round against Illawarra on Saturday, 7 November and the Australian Defence Force appreciation game against United on Thursday, 12 November with both of those rounds supported by We Create Print Deliver.

Popular themes like the Kids Takeover Round (Sun 13 December v Sydney, with gameday partner Key Assets) and Wild West (Sat 2 Jan v SEM) will return, as will Pride Round on Saturday, 9 January against Perth, while the Homestart Member Recognition Round will be celebrated against Illawarra on Saturday, 23 January.
