The Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce the appointment of Jamie Pearlman as Lead Assistant Coach for the next two seasons.
Jamie joins the 36ers after two seasons as Head Coach of the Kuala Lumpur based Westports Malaysia Dragons in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
His coaching career has taken him to New Zealand, where he was named NZBL Coach of the Year at the Nelson Giants, Assistant Coach at the Cairns Taipans and Head Coach of the CQ University Taipans Academy and Skytrans Cairns Marlins in the QBL.
Before making the transition to coaching, Pearlman had a 243 game NBL career with the Cairns Taipans and Canberra Cannons, forging a reputation as a tough guard and highly respected teammate, particularly on the defensive end of the floor.
Jamie is looking forward to starting the pre-season on 1 September and doing his part to drive the 36ers forward.
“I’m excited to be returning to the NBL and joining the 36ers for the next challenge in my coaching career. I can’t wait to get to work with the extremely talented roster that Jeff and Conner have recruited for the upcoming season. The 36ers have a long history of success and I look forward to working with Conner to help build a team that plays a tough and exciting brand of basketball,” Jamie said.
General Manager of Basketball Jeff van Groningen welcomed Jamie to the 36ers, “We’re proud to have Jamie join us to assist in leading the team to a successful season. Jamie comes with plenty of experience as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach and player. His professional approach and eye for detail will allow the players to grow and succeed under his guidance.”
Head Coach Conner Henry said the appointment of Jamie Pearlman as the Club’s Lead Assistant Coach was testament to his professional development, focus and career experience on and off the floor.
“I am excited we have been able to secure my guy Jamie Pearlman to help lead us. He comes with great experience as a former player and he has an extensive knowledge of the players in this league, he knows the landscape well. The 36ers are getting a fantastic coach!”
Jamie joins a new-look Adelaide 36ers team for the 2020-21 season, which includes new Head Coach Conner Henry who has committed for the next three seasons. The Club has recruited NBA-prospect Josh Giddey as a Next Stars player, while retaining the Club's reigning MVP Daniel Johnson and recently announced new recruits Isaac Humphries, Keanu Pinder and Sunday Dech.
