The Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the signing of Alex Starling for the NBL24 season.
Starling, who today will gain his Australian citizenship, will make his step into the NBL after starring for almost a decade in the NBL1 Central competition.
Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said he’s excited to add Starling to his roster and can’t wait for him to show his skills in the big league.
“Alex has been dominating for a number of years at the local level and now he has a chance to take that next step,” Bruton said.
“When everyone talks about Alex, he’s a proven winner, he can play both ends of the floor at a high-level and it’s fantastic he’s become an Australian citizen.”
The 198cm forward said he will take his NBL opportunity with “both hands” after building a solid resume at NBL1 Central level, where he has won three championships and two Woollacott Medals as the league MVP.
“It feels great to finally be an NBL player,” Starling said.
“Coming out to Australia in 2012 I thought I could play at that level.

“Over the course of the years, the opportunities just weren’t there, but now the citizenship has opened a few doors.”
Bruton said Starling will be a key component to Adelaide’s NBL24 roster.
“The energy and the athleticism Alex brings will make us better,” Bruton said.
“I can’t wait to see what he brings to our group, and he will give us more options at both ends of the court.”
Starling joins Mitch McCarron, Jason Cadee, Isaac Humphries, Antonius Cleveland, Robert Franks, Nick Marshall, Sunday Dech, Kyrin Galloway and Keanu Rasmussen as NBL24 contracted players.
