Festive cheer is back at the Entertainment Centre for the NBL24 season with the Adelaide 36ers set to host another home game on Christmas Eve.
After the success of last season’s win against South East Melbourne Phoenix on Christmas Eve, the 36ers will host the Brisbane Bullets on Sunday December 24 at 1.30pm.
Adelaide 36ers chief executive officer Nic Barbato said the Christmas Eve home game is a great reward for the home fans, who sold out the final five home matches of the NBL23 season.
“Christmas is a great time of year for families and there’s no better family friendly product than attending our home games,” Barbato said.
“We hosted a Christmas Eve game last season and it was a great success, but this season the 1.30pm tip off time slot I believe is even better for families.”
NBL Executive Director and Owner Larry Kestelman believes the NBL is fast establishing a new Christmas tradition in Australia and New Zealand.
“It not only delivered a fantastic in-stadium atmosphere and experience but was also a must-watch TV event,” Kestelman said.
“Sports fans everywhere told us they want NBL on Christmas and having listened, we acted.
“We were the first professional sport to play a game on Christmas and as our League continues to grow, we want to keep breaking new ground and innovating.
“NBL on Christmas is now set to become a marquee fixture on the Australian sporting calendar, much like the NBA’s Christmas games are in America.”
The full NBL24 schedule will be released on Thursday, April 20.
