Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton said his side’s first hit out has been a ‘long time coming’ as they prepare to take on the Perth Wildcats in two games this weekend.
The 36ers will play the Wildcats, who will be led by 36ers championship player John Rillie, on Friday night and Sunday afternoon and Bruton is eager on seeing how his new-look side goes.
“While the off-season has been fun and tough at times, our season is now not far away,” he said.
“I’m very happy with having my paw print put on this talented group, but we’re yet to come together.
“I’m excited.”
Bruton said while the group is exciting, building the culture and chemistry in pre-season trips like this will be crucial.
“It’s massive, it sets teams apart, it builds franchises,” he said.
“For me, it’s about our team, we have a lot of talented players.
“We play a team game, it’s not tennis, it’s not singles.
“We need to work together and come together on the road, looking out for each other.
“It’s like playing for your country, as much respect as you give that, give it to this team.”
Tip-off is at 8pm on Friday and at 2.30pm on Sunday.
All games can be watched on the NBL YouTube channel, Facebook, website and its app.
