Adelaide 36ers swingman Sunday Dech says he is embracing his new role head coach CJ Bruton has given him for the NBL23 season.

In the first two games at the NBL Blitz in Darwin, Dech has come off the bench to be the spark the 36ers after sluggish starts have haunted Bruton’s side.

Dech, who had 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists in Adelaide’s 87-79 win against Tasmania JackJumpers on Monday night, said Bruton has asked him to make a change to his game for NBL23.

“CJ has told me I’ll be playing that one through four role and he said he’s going to need me sometimes (at the four),” Dech said.

“And with Tassie’s smaller line-up, I was able to use my size and box them in under the basket and get a few put backs.

“We gave a few too many offensive rebounds in that first, so that was a focus against Tassie and it paid dividends.”

Adelaide will complete their NBL Blitz campaign on Thursday night against Illawarra Hawks at 8pm and the game will be available on Kayo Freebies.
