'Dream come true' for re-signing Marshall

Nick Marshall said signing a three-year deal to stay at the Adelaide 36ers is a “dream come true”.

Marshall, 23, inked the three-year extension this week, the final year a club option, to remain a 36er until NBL26.

“It’s a dream come true to be here in Adelaide, my home town,” Marshall said on Wednesday.

“It’s amazing to be on the roster, be with the guys all the time, I’m looking forward to it and looking forward to playing.”

The 198cm swingman has been a development player for the past two seasons and was upgraded to the main roster at times during NBL23, but will now be part of the 11-man squad for the next three campaigns.

“I’ve been working on all areas of my game, my favourite player is Devin Booker, so it was awesome to play against him last year,” Marshall said.

“I’ve been working hard on my game, it’s got to be where I am today.

“The dream for me is to make the NBA.”

Marshall had thoughts a deal was imminent by talking to his agent late last month.

“Last week when I was away (with the Boomers) I got a message from my agent, I knew something was going on,

“But I didn’t know it was going to be that good.”

After he knew of the three-year extension, Marshall was keen to let everyone know the good news.

“I told my girlfriend first, then my family, but there were no tears,” Marshall said

“It was special to know what I’m doing for the next three years.

“It’s special to have my family here, my friends from high school, everyone can come watch and I’ll always be around.”

Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Nick Marshall for the next three seasons.

Marshall, who has been a development player for the past two years, will join the main roster until NBL26.

The 198cm swingman said he’s excited to continue his NBL journey in his home state.

“It’s pretty cool to be able to play in the NBL at home with the team I grew up supporting,” Marshall said.

The South Australian has made giant strides since joining the 36ers in NBL22, growing his game on both ends of the court.

Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said Marshall will be a key piece to the roster moving forward.

“What we have seen with Nick, he is only going to get better,” Bruton said.

“From what I have seen since I’ve been at the club, Nick works on his game a lot and that work ethic has seen these results.

“He has gone from a DP, to starting in the NBL and was also on the main roster for times throughout last season.

“I see Nick Marshall as a big piece to the future of the Adelaide 36ers.”

Marshall, who made his Australian Boomers debut last weekend during the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Window 6, said he can’t wait to continue his journey in Adelaide.

“I want to improve everyday and the process I’ve been doing will continue, just keep what I have been doing,” Marshall said.
