Adelaide 36ers swingman Anthony Drmic has called the record crowd on Thursday night ‘special’.
As 9263 fans packed into the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to see the 36ers defeat Brisbane Bullets 87-84, Drmic said the crowd played a vital role late in the second half.
“It was unbelievable, I think the last time we had a record crowd we didn’t really perform,” Drmic said.
“I was a little nervous we were going to come out the same way.”
But Drmic lifted, along with the crowd, for an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double which included one huge three-pointer late in the final quarter.
“I feel like tonight we played a little better and we played up to the crowd,” Drmic said.
“It’s amazing every time you look up and you see that many people in the stands supporting you.
“It’s special.”
After travelling to Cairns to play the Taipans on New Year’s Eve, the 36ers will be back at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre for a home double header against Illawarra Hawks on Friday, January 6 and New Zealand Breakers on Sunday, January 8.
