Adelaide 36ers recruit Craig Randall II said for fans to expect a ‘different Adelaide 36ers’ this year as they prepare for their first game of the NBL Blitz against the South East Melbourne Phoenix tonight.
It will be Randall’s third game in 36ers colours after two hit outs against the Perth Wildcats, including a 29-point, eight-rebound and four-assist match on Sunday.
“I’m excited, it’s my first NBL Blitz,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to playing with the full team now which will be a good experience and test for us early.
“It felt good obviously, that’s just me, the coach always tells me to be the best me I can be every game.
“If my job that night is to score, it’s to score, if it’s to 16 assists, it’s get 16 assists and guard the best player, I’m here to be me and do what the coach asks.”
Randall said the trip to Western Australia was a good opportunity to bond as a group as they learn each other’s quirks.
“It was good, we got a good group of guys,” he said.
“We’ve had about five practices together, so we’re trying to figure each other out on the fly, but I think we’re doing a good job as are the coaches to get us up to speed on the plays.”
Going up to Darwin, Randall said he and the team will be ready.
“We know we kind of have a target on our back this year, teams are out to get us at all times, it’ll be a different Adelaide 36ers, we’ll be ready,” he said.
