Adelaide power forward Robert Franks says the 36ers need to control their own destiny in the NBL x NBA pre-season game against Phoenix Suns today.

Franks, who was a key off-season signing by the 36ers, has passed on his experience to the younger group and told his teammates what to expect.

“This place is going to be loud and energised,” Franks said after training at Footprint Center.

“Treat it like any other game, go out and have fun and leave no regrets out there.

“They’re all talented, so we need to play as a group and minimise their talent.”

The 201cm forward knows there are a few keys for Adelaide to compete with the team who boasted the best record in the NBA last season.

“Box out and play hard, that’s going to give us a great chance,” Franks said.

“We are going to get our shots up, we just got to be able to defend and play with great energy.”

The key to stopping the Suns will be containing 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul, especially in the pick ‘n’ roll.

“You got to try and maintain it and make it tough for him,” Franks said.

Franks said the start of the game is the most crucial for his side.

“I want to be even with them, right there with them early,” Franks said.

“Those first six minutes, let’s match what they have got over there.”
