Getting Giddey for second NBA season

Former Adelaide 36ers point guard Josh Giddey can’t wait for his second season in the NBA after injury prematurely ended his rookie campaign.
The 206cm playmaker finished top 25 in the NBA in assists last season with 6.4 per game and he said year two is going to be all about “getting better”.
“I’ve been shooting the ball a lot, putting up a lot of shots and lifting a lot of weights trying to get stronger,” Giddey said.
“So I’m just trying to work on all the things I need to be worked on.
“As a young player there’s a lot of things I need to get better at.
“To stick around in this league you never should get complacent, there is always things to work on and get better at.”
With one season of experience now under his belt, Giddey wants to take his game to a whole new level.
This will start with the NBL x NBA pre-season game against his former Adelaide 36ers teammates on October 6.
If he’s able to be a top 10 passer in the NBA at just 20 years old, Giddey will prove he’s a cornerstone of the Thunder roster.
Giddey won’t have No.2 draft pick Chet Holmgren to pass to this season due to injury, but there’s still a good chance he does improve his assists numbers to be top 10.
“I can’t wait, I’ve been raring to go for a long time now,” Giddey said.
“It obviously sucks being hurt and not being able to get on the floor.
“You learn a lot when you’re off the floor and you realise the NBA is a long, long season and it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to be able to be healthy and be ready to play that many games.
“So. I’m looking forward to it (year two), it’s exciting, the season is just around the corner.”
