Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce the signing of Isaac Humphries on a one-year deal for the NBL24 season.

The 2018 NBL Rookie of the Year returns to the 36ers after spending the NBL23 season at Melbourne United, where he averaged 9.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and lead the NBL in blocks (1.7 per game).

Head coach CJ Bruton said the addition of Humphries adds much-needed size, strength, defence and rim protection to his roster.

“Super excited to get Isaac back with us and this is huge for this club,” Bruton said.

“I didn’t get to work with him much during my first year as coach but his ability to impact a game from the defensive presence to his shot blocking ability to his NBA skillset, I think he is only going to grow and get stronger.

“From where he has been at, I’m excited for him and I’m excited for the club to see him back to full strength.”

Bruton said Humphries returning to Adelaide, where he spent the NBL21 and NBL22 seasons, will bolster the roster and the front court rotation.

“Isaac believes in the club and the path we are on and I’m super pumped to have a guy of his talent to add to our group,” Bruton said.

“The presence of a centre is big for us, we need to be able to guard opposing centres in the NBL and Isaac has proved that while he has been in this league.

“This is a big piece to where we want to be.”

The 211cm centre had his best NBL season as a 36er during the NBL21 campaign where he averaged 13.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game.

“His ability to be able to change a game is massive and as a club that is something we need,” Bruton said.

“It’s not just defence too, he will be around the rim a little more and provide that scoring punch.”

Humphries joins Antonius Cleveland, Robert Franks, Mitch McCarron, Sunday Dech, Nick Marshall, Jason Cadee and Kyrin Galloway as contracted players for the NBL24 season.
