The Adelaide 36ers are proud to announce the signing of US guard Dusty Hannahs for the NBL22 season.

Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, the 27-year-old, 1.93 m (6’4 ft) sharpshooter broke onto the NCAA basketball scene with Texas Tech for his first two seasons before transferring to his hometown Arkansas Razorbacks for his final two years of college. While at Texas Tech he set an all-time school record by shooting 92.3% from the free throw line. He shot at 43.3% from the three-point arc in his junior year at Arkansas and in his final season he led the Southeastern Conference by hitting 90.8% at the free throw line to go with 14.4 points per game.

Dusty’s first professional contract followed in 2017, signing with the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G-League for three-years. In his third season with the Hustle, Dusty averaged 21 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds over 37 games which saw him establish a reputation as one of the G-League’s best scorers. Shooting an elite 44.8% from beyond the arc, he received an NBA call-up and 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, signalling his status as a player genuinely on the edge of the world’s strongest league. Most recently Dusty spent time with the Santa Cruz Warriors, where the Golden State Warriors front office closely monitored his progress.

Dusty can't wait to join the Adelaide team, “I’m really excited to come down to Australia and join the Adelaide 36ers. I’ve heard great things about the NBL and Australia and am keen to enhance my skills and build a relationship with Coach Conner and the guys on the team. I can’t wait to head down there!”

Grant Kelley, Chairman of the Adelaide 36ers, welcomes Dusty to the Club, “Imports are always an exciting addition and we’re delighted that Dusty has chosen the Adelaide 36ers to kickstart his NBL career. We can’t wait to see Dusty in a Sixers jersey and look forward to welcoming him to Adelaide and our passionate members and fans.”

General Manager of Basketball, Jeff Van Groningen, added, “Dusty is a high-end shooter who finds multiple ways to score. He’s received interest from NBL and international teams this off-season and he’s been in NBA calculations on multiple occasions. We are fortunate to have Dusty coming to us to take on the challenge of creating a winning squad”.

Sixers Head Coach, Conner Henry, is also looking forward to welcoming Dusty to the team, “It’s exciting having a fresh import on our roster and I’m excited to work with him, continue to build his shooting range, and really focus on how he can move on the court alongside the other members of the team.”

Dusty joins Mitch McCarron and Mojave King as recently announced new players, as well as existing members Isaac Humphries, Sunday Dech, Daniel Johnson, and Kai Sotto on the 36ers roster.
