Adelaide 36ers guard Sunday Dech is expecting a ‘good test’ as he and his teammates travel for the first time in NBL23 to take on defending champions Sydney Kings.
Dech played eight minutes in Saturday night’s win over Illawarra and is eager to test himself on the road.
“They’re the benchmark, they’re the reigning champions,” he said.
“They’re coming off an impressive win in Brisbane.
“We’ll prepare for them, we play similar styles which is fast, up and down the court.
“It’ll be a good test, it’s our first road game, we weren’t good on the road last year, but this year we want to be one of the best road teams in the league.”
The 36ers will go to Sydney 1-1, and Dech said the win over the Hawks was a big improvement from the loss to Tasmania.
“It was a really good win for us to bounce back,” he said.
“I think we didn’t put our best foot forward on Thursday, it was good to come into practice on Friday and then put together a good performance.
“Not only for us, but the fans who came out, we want to put out a product they’re proud of and that we’re fighting and working behind the scenes.
“It was a bit more of a defensive focus, we gave up 97 points against the JackJumpers and that’s way too high if we want to win a championship and play finals basketball.
“We focused on that on Friday.”
