The Australian Refugee Association (ARA) has partnered with the Sixers to deliver the club’s new Harmony Hoops program.
The program aims to foster social cohesion and build community unity and cultural understanding through basketball, targeting culturally diverse young people, newly settled migrants, refugees, and individuals facing social isolation.
The ARA provides invaluable support for refugees and migrants who arrive in Australia, assisting them to settle, gain confidence, contribute and thrive in their new communities.
The Christmas Appeal is a special opportunity for the community to come together and make a meaningful impact for refugee families who have found safety in Australia but still face significant challenges.
Why Your Support Matters
Families like Melika’s have fled unimaginable hardship, seeking a new beginning in Australia.
Even after finding refuge, they struggle to afford food, pay rent, and access essential medical care.
Melika’s story is one of courage and resilience, but also of urgent need. Her family often goes without enough food, sleeps on the floor, and worries about paying for rent and medical support for her husband, who is legally blind.
How You Can Help
Your support for the Christmas Appeal will provide:
Food vouchers so families do not go hungry
Rental assistance to keep a safe roof over their heads
English lessons to help refugees find employment and support their families
Every donation, no matter the size, brings practical help to families who have lost so much. Your generosity can help parents like Melika provide for their children and take steps toward independence and security.

How to Donate
You can make a real difference by donating to the Australian Refugee Association’s Christmas Appeal.
