Mitch McCarron nearly recorded a quadruple double for the second week in a row, but it wasn’t enough to lift his West Adelaide Bearcats to their second win of the NBL1 Central season.

The 189cm combo guard scored 13 points, dished 12 assists, grabbed eight rebounds and had seven steals but the Bearcats fell 110-95 to South Adelaide Panthers at Port Adelaide Stadium on Good Friday.

West started off strong, building an early seven-point lead with McCarron finding a number of open shooters, but the reigning NBL1 Central champions, who debuted Daniel Johnson in the contest, fought back to lead 50-49 at the main break.

The Bearcats then had no answer as South Adelaide scored the first 18 points of the third quarter to break the game wide open and West were playing catch up for the rest of the night.

Johnson nearly had a triple double for South Adelaide, scoring 15 points, hauling in nine rebounds and dishing eight assists.

Fraser Roxburgh had his best game as a Bearcat, scoring 20 points and grabbing five rebounds.
