The Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the induction of Mike McKay to the Club’s Hall of Fame.
McKay spent 10 seasons at the 36ers between 1985 and 1995 and played 290 of his 448 NBL games with the Club.
The 193cm swingman was part of ‘The Invincibles’ 1986 NBL championship team and was crowned the first ever NBL Rookie of the Year in 1985.
Adelaide 36ers Owner and Chairman Grant Kelley said the Club is honoured to induct McKay to the Hall of Fame.
“When you think of Mike McKay, the first things you think about are toughness and leadership,” Kelley said.
“He played like a modern player before the modern player."
Kelley said McKay is what “an Adelaide 36er should strive to be” and hopes the next generation of Sixers will be motivated by McKay’s career achievements.
“Mike is truly one of the greatest Sixers and his ability has inspired others to go above and beyond,” Kelley said.
“He’s a homegrown kid who made to the world stage at the Olympic Games, something of which our Club should be very proud.”
