The Adelaide 36ers will have another chance to hit the court to test their new look line-up on Thursday night when they face a NBL1 South Select Team in Mount Gambier.
The NBL1 South Select Team brings together a mix of proven veterans, imports and emerging stars in a 12-man squad that includes a strong NBL connection.
Among those selected are Lachlan Barker (NW Tasmania Thunder) who has played in the NBL with South East Melbourne Phoenix, Melbourne United and the Tasmania JackJumpers and Luke Rosendale (Ballarat Miners), who previously suited up for the Phoenix.
Christian D’Angelo (Nunawading Spectres), the 2025 Youth Player of the Year, is a current training player with Melbourne United training player and his Nunawading teammate Nicholas Tata is a nominated replacement player with United, while Austin Shelley (Mount Gambier Pioneers) has trained with both the Cairns Taipans and the Phoenix.

The NBL1 South side also includes international experience through imports Joshua Sykes (Eltham Wildcats) and Jonathon Lawton (Ringwood Hawks), who have both been consistent difference-makers at the NBL1 level.
Select Team Head Coach Richard Hill (Mount Gambier Pioneers) said the contest will be an important opportunity for NBL1 South’s best to showcase themselves.
“This game is an exciting opportunity for our athletes to measure themselves against some of the best players in the country,” he said.
“It’s also a chance to highlight the strength and quality of the NBL1 South competition on a big stage in Mount Gambier.
“We’re proud to bring together this group of talented players and we look forward to the challenge against the 36ers.”
The 36ers will have one final pre-season hit-out after the Mount Gambier visit, next weekend against Greek giants Panathinaikos who have won seven EuroLeague Championships.
