Trentyn Flowers signs on as NBL Next Star at 36ers.

Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the signing of five-star prospect, and projected lottery pick Trentyn Flowers as part of the Next Stars Program for the NBL24 season.

Flowers comes to the 36ers on a two-year contract and is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The 204cm point guard said his decision to join the 36ers after committing to NCAA college Louisville last April was a tough choice, but one he feels is the best for his professional career.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the NBL and become a 36er,” Flowers said.

“This is going to be an incredible opportunity for me to grow my game, play alongside incredible talent, and learn at a high level.”

Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said Flowers will be a key asset to his NBL24 roster and has plans for the 2024 NBA Draft prospect to run the show.

“Trentyn is a young player and an NBA prospect, but for someone who is 6”8, he has great vision and great poise,” Bruton said.

“Unlike most kids his age, Trentyn has the ability to play the game at an elite level and I can see him having a similar impact as Josh Giddey and LaMelo Ball had on the league.”

Adelaide 36ers owner and chairman Grant Kelley said the recruitment of Flowers is similar to the club signing current OKC Thunder star and current Boomers guard Giddey.

"We have had a great track record with Next Stars, with Josh and Mojave King getting drafted to the NBA in 2021 and 2023 respectively, and prior to that Terrance Ferguson in 2017,” Kelley said.

“We expect Trentyn's time at our club to be successful, not only in terms of his career, but also for the Adelaide 36ers and our loyal fans.”

The GM of Next Stars Recruitment at the NBL, Liam Santamaria, said Flowers will join the largest contingent of Next Stars ever assembled during the NBL24 season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Trentyn to the Next Stars program and believe he will bring great excitement to the 36ers,” Santamaria said.

A recent NBA 2024 NBA Mock Draft completed by USA Today has Flowers project to join Giddey at the Thunder next season at the No. 11 overall pick.

Flowers is rated as one of the top first round draft prospects and was a standout during the 2022 Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament.

Many respected NBA scouts have said Flowers already has a great feel for the game and he offers pro-calibre size, conditioning, and work ethic.

Flowers is set to arrive in Adelaide in the coming days.
