Adelaide 36ers head coach Scott Ninnis is excited at the possibilities new NBL25 signing Jarell Martin can bring to his new-look roster.
Martin signed a one-year deal on Thursday and Ninnis said the 208cm power forward is exactly what he was looking for.
“To have someone who is 6”10 with championship experience, he has played with DJ Vasiljevic before, is something I’m really thrilled with,” Ninnis told media on Thursday.
“We will look to get him here as soon as possible and to get him integrated into the team.”
Ninnis said Martin gives his roster multiple options at both ends of the floor and the possibilities to play different line-ups.
“In that position in the four man (power forward) what we were looking for was a very good player, but someone who can fill in that five spot (centre) as well,” Ninnis said.
“I’m not going to flog Isaac Humphries to death and make him play 40 minutes, so we have someone now when we take Isaac out of the game who can hold down that spot as well.
“It gives us versatility, it gives us a big man who can stretch the floor and shoot the three, which was something we were really big on as well.”
Ninnis said to have Martin, who has played 59 NBL games across two seasons with the Kings, know the league was vital in his recruitment.
“He has won a championship, and has played particularly well in finals, so to bring that experience to this group is exciting,” Ninnis said.

“We have had an exhaustive input into this import process, if you saw my whiteboard in my office over the past three months, there has been hundreds of names up there.
“Jarell was always someone we spoke about, and I was fairly adamant that I didn’t want two guys who weren’t known to the league.
“I wanted one of the imports to have had NBL experience and couldn’t be happier that we have settled on Jarell.”
Martin is expected to arrive in Adelaide next week and his signing completes the 36ers NBL25 roster.
