Ninnis thrilled with talent pool at NBL25 DP Camp

Adelaide 36ers head coach Scott Ninnis said the club has unearthed some NBL stars of the future at the annual Development Player camp this week.

The two-day camp, held at St Clair Recreation Centre, had 19 invited players going head-to-head to potentially gain one of the four Development Player spots available for the NBL25 season.

Ninnis was excited with what he saw and is excited to see what the future holds for the club and for all players involved.

“We are looking at guys that can be NBL players and I think a majority of these guys have a really good opportunity,” Ninnis said.

“This has really exceeded my expectations; it’s been really competitive and really high quality.”

With a majority of the players invited coming from NBL1 Central clubs, Ninnis said the club will pick the best talent available.

“I’m passionate about giving these young guys a role, South Australians aren’t just gifted a job because they’re South Australian,” Ninnis said.

“But it’s really important to have that local flavour, and we have done that with brining guys in like Jacob Rigoni and Ben Griscti recently.

“The better our development players are, the better we are as a team.

“This is not some token selection, we want these guys to be NBL players.”

Ninnis and his basketball staff will now come together to make decisions on the four Development Player spots, and will also invite out selected training players for the NBL25 season.

“It’s all about what we need and what positions, do we need size, do we need guys chasing point guards,” Ninnis said.

“We are blessed with a lot of choices here which is really exciting.”

All players must be 24 years old or younger throughout the NBL25 season to qualify as Development Players.
