Scoring the main ingredient to Kings success

Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said his side needs to find more avenues to the hoop and score more points, starting on Sunday against Sydney Kings at Qudos Bank Arena.
The 36ers have scored under 80 points in all three matches to start the NBL24 season and Bruton understands his side needs to put on more scoreboard pressure.
“We kept them (Perth) to 82 points, we need to get over 80 right now,” Bruton said after the 82-75 loss to the Wildcats in Perth on Friday night.
“We need to be hitting around that 88-90 mark.”
Captain Mitch McCarron said the challenge of going to Sydney to face the Kings, who will be unveiling their NBL23 championship banner, holds no fears for the 36ers.
“We have every reason to hold our head high and walk into Sydney and throw everything at them on the road,” McCarron said.
“As players, all you want to do after a loss is play again, if you lose, all you want to do is get back out on the floor and rectify that.
“There is going to be a lot of energy in the gym.”
Bruton said the Kings, who are also coming off a loss on Friday night, an 80-72 defeat to the JackJumpers in Tasmania, will be out to bounce back, but knows what his side has to do to taste victory for the first time this season.
“We are excited to be playing another game, they’re raising their banner, it has nothing to do with us and our progress moving forward,” Bruton said.
“We need to put that second half (on Friday night in Perth), into both halves.”
