The Adelaide 36ers will finalise their pre-season with a road trip to Mount Gambier to face an NBL1 Select team.
The game will be played at Mount Gambier’s Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre on the evening of Thursday 11th of September.
It will be the final hit-out for Mike Wells’ side before it jets off to Sydney to face European giants Panathinaikos and Partizan in the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament before the start of the NBL26 season.
The 36ers have played pre-season games in Mount Gambier in each of the past two seasons.
The NBL1 Select team will be made up of some of the best players from that competition with the team to be named closer to the game.
36ers Head Coach Mike Wells said the game would be a key part of the preparation for the NBL season.
“We’ve got a really new group of players that are getting to know how each other and the way we want to play so every chance to get on the court together is important,” said Wells.
“It’ll be a great opportunity to get away together and continue to build on our club’s connection with the Mount Gambier community.
“We know they love their basketball down there, and we’ve seen that with the way the people turn out when we’re in town.
“There are a lot of talented players in the NBL1 South competition and it’ll be a good test for our side as we get closer to Round 1.”
The match will be hosted by the Mount Gambier Pioneers and president Tom Kosch was looking forward to welcoming back the 36ers.
“The Pioneers are hugely excited and appreciative of the opportunity to host the Adelaide 36ers, the third consecutive year that our club has hosted the NBL club in Mount Gambier,” Mr Kosch said.
“We are also excited for the new look of the game and opponent this season and watching the NBL1 Select team that will showcase some of the best NBL1 talent coming up against a star-studded Adelaide 36ers team.”
As part of the trip, 36ers staff and players will conduct school visits and community activities including taking part in the TAFE SA Campus Alive event.
Tickets for the game will be available HERE from Monday, 11th August from 5pm ACST.
The game will also be live streamed for those unable to make it to Mount Gambier.
Details about the stream will be released closer to the date.
