Special tribute to championship coach in new Sixers jersey

The Adelaide 36ers will remember their late Championship winning coach Ken Cole with a special tribute on their newly release jersey to be worn for the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 season.

Cole guided the club to its inaugural NBL championship in 1986 with his Invincibles team going 24-2 across the season before winning the title over Brisbane.

He maintained his connection with the club in his role as its number one ticket holder, attending games right up until his passing.

A member of both the Adelaide 36ers and Australian Basketball Halls of Fame, Cole passed away in March at the age of 82, after battling cancer for more than a decade.

During the NBL26 playoffs and Championship series, Adelaide 36ers players wore black tape on the left shoulder of their jerseys with the word ‘Ken’ written on it.

Fittingly 40 years on from the incredible championship achievement, Cole’s signature will adorn the 36ers playing jersey with the black tape feature now built into the design of both the home and away variations.

The new home jersey also incorporates the logo of Revo Fitness, which elevated its partnership to be a Major Partner of the club until at least 2029.

The white away jersey will retain the SKG Services branding on the front.

The jerseys will be available via the Adelaide 36ers store from September 9.

The first chance to see the jerseys in action will be during the Code Sports NBL Blitz in Bendigo with the Sixers to face Illawarra (September 3) and Cairns (September 5).

The Adelaide 36ers will tip off the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 season on the road to Melbourne United on September 19.

The club’s first home game of the season is on Sunday, 27 September at 4:30pm against Cairns. Limited remaining tickets can be purchased HERE.
