The Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce Sunday Dech will continue as a 36er for the next three seasons, which will see the star guard remain in Adelaide until the end of the 2024-25 NBL season.
Dech was a major contributor for the Club in 2021-22, averaging 12.3 points, 2.43 assists, and 4.26 rebounds per game in his second season with the Club.
The 28-year-old, highly versatile guard, has played 100 NBL games and won two NBL championships while playing for the Perth Wildcats in 2014 and 2019.
Dech is grateful to have his career extended at the 36ers.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Club and Adelaide has become home. I look forward to continuing working with coach CJ and the team with the aim of bringing another championship to Adelaide,” Dech said.
Head Coach CJ Bruton is excited to continue working with Sunday who is considered to be a franchise centre piece and one of the best defensive players in the NBL.
“I couldn’t be more excited to know Sunday will be part of the club going forward. Having Sunday part of the next chapter for the club, embracing his teammates and the community will help us to build the roster and reach our goals for the future. Congratulations Sunday”, Bruton said.
Adelaide 36ers Chief Executive Officer Nic Barbato is thrilled to have Dech returning for another three seasons.
“We are excited to have Sunday remaining with the Club for a further three seasons. Sunday brings with him leadership, work ethic, high basketball IQ, and a cultural fit with our Club. We have every confidence Sunday will continue his development and look forward to seeing him around our Club for another three seasons”. Barbato said.
Dech’s re-signing boosts the Club’s plans for the 2022-23 season with further exciting player and basketball department announcements to come.
