Adelaide 36ers power forward Robert Franks has hailed his teammates after the 91-86 win against Melbourne United at John Cain Arena on Thursday night.
Franks, who had a team high 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, had high praise for Anthony Drmic and captain Mitch McCarron.
“That’s credit to all the guys that stepped up tonight,” Franks said post game.
“Drm (Drmic), Mac (McCarron) played a superb game running the show.”
Drmic also netted 21 points to go with five rebounds, while McCarron was everywhere for 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The 201cm import said moving the ball more in offense and sharing the load has become more of a focus in the lead-up to Thursday night’s win.
“That is what coach is trying to install in us, to move the ball and at the end of the day it’s going to find who it needs to find at the right time,” Franks said.
After being involved in the steal which resulted in a McCarron slam dunk, Franks said he didn’t know of the contact made with United captain Chris Goulding until he saw it on the screen.
“I didn’t knew I hit him until I saw the replay,” Franks said.
“I was trying to get the ball, and unfortunately it was just incidental contact.”
Franks applauded and supported United’s Isaac Humphries after the former 36er revealed to world on Wednesday he was gay.
“I think it’s going to be big time. For him to step up and say that,” Franks said.
“That’s going to bring a lot more people to have that confidence to come out and get that monkey off their back.”
