The Adelaide 36ers went into the FIBA break well placed to attack the second part of the season and import Troy Brown Jnr says it’ll be important not to drop off going forward.

The Sixers have had their best start to a campaign since 2013, sitting in second place on the Hungry Jack’s NBL ladder with 11 wins and three losses after 14 games.

Having had a busy run of seven games in 20 days, the Sixers enjoyed the opportunity to recover and re-set during last week’s FIBA break but for Brown there is one key goal once the side hits the court again on Friday night against Brisbane.

“I feel like we always have to be very respectful of the fact that we did start off (the season) good,” he said on Monday before training.

“We’ve got to keep that same intensity and same mentality going into the second half.

“No drop off is the biggest thing.”

Brown was able to play a part in three games after arriving from the US just two weeks ago with all being wins.

The experienced NBA man is settling into life in Adelaide.

And he feels like he is adjusting to coach Mike Well’s game plan and fitting in well with his teammates.

“I'm enjoying it,” Brown said. “It's been good so far.”

“We’re winning games, so hopefully we can keep that going and then I feel like everything goes good with you winning and stuff.

“I feel like the biggest thing for me was understanding the pace of the game. I feel like the Australian League’s very up and down, and that's one thing we've been working on, while we've had this time off.

“I have my one or two plays that, you know, the names just don't register with the play, but for the most part in the sense of us having a flow when we're scrimmaging and just being able to play together and have that chemistry, I feel like we're doing a pretty good job.”

Given his late arrival 11 games into the season, the plan was always to allow Brown the time to settle into the environment and learn how the team plays.

The FIBA break provided the ideal opportunity, and he is now gearing up to play a key role in the important back end of the season, starting on Friday night against the Bullets.

“Honestly, I was just filling in the gaps,” Brown said of his role since arriving in Adelaide.

“I’ve said before, I feel like there's different points where we’re going to need different things, whether that’s defensively, whether it's rebounding, whether it's having to knock down some shots,

“I feel like it's just me understanding the game and being able to fill those gaps to help us win.”

Friday night’s game is the first of two in two days for the Sixers, who will then head to Perth to face the Wildcats on Sunday.

The Sixers have won four straight games and are aiming for a fifth against the Bullets.

Limited tickets remain for Friday night’s game.
