'We have to come out firing': Bruton

Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said his side must come out firing this weekend as the team faces a tough double-header road trip in Perth and Sydney.
The 36ers are in Perth on Friday night for a battle against arch-rivals the Wildcats, before backing up less than 48 hours later in Sydney against the reigning champion Kings at Qudos Bank Arena.
“This is our schedule, and everyone is talented and loaded and we have to come out all guns blazing,” Bruton said on FiveAA on Thursday.
“We need to make sure we get one of these games on the weekend, if not both.”
Bruton said his side have been focusing on key areas of the gameplan since opening the NBL24 season 0-2 last weekend.
“We must start the game well in Perth in front of a hostile crowd,” Bruton said.
“We have to start the third quarter well and take care of the rebounds.”
Going into the Wildcats battle, Bruton said his side has been making strides and are prepared for the new-look Perth roster led again by Bryce Cotton.
“You got to have aggressive mindset and we did that initially against Brisbane,” Bruton said.
“We need scoring right now; we have been in the 75 zone ever since the first pre-season game. We need to be around that 88-90 mark, we have to put points on the board.”
Besides cleaning up the offensive rebounding, Bruton expects an improved performance as his side builds on “a good 30 minutes” against Melbourne United.
“We have shown glimpses and we have improved in each outing, but we were unable to come away with a win,” Bruton said.
“Not having everyone available and on the same page, it takes time to get that together. Getting Trey Kell and Jacob Wiley healthy and out on the floor is a positive.
“We gave ourselves every chance by keeping our turnovers down.”
