'We need to clean up some areas': Bruton

Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said his side will “clean up” some areas which were costly in the final minutes of Friday night’s 98-90 loss to Perth Wildcats at the Entertainment Centre.

With an 84-81 lead with just over two minutes to play, the visitors, led by Bryce Cotton’s game-high 32 points, went on a 9-0 run to take away all of Adelaide’s momentum.

“There’s a few things there in the last few minutes that we need to clean up and get better at,” Bruton said.

“Some breakdowns that we can still improve on.”

Bruton was pleased with how the home side started in front of their loyal fans, heading into the first break with a five-point lead.

“Couple of good things to take out of that, a good start and 15 assists down the stretch,” Bruton said.

Adelaide will look at new avenues to attack their opposition moving forward, with Bruton highlighting some key areas for his side.

“We need to keep finding ways, I think shooting the three ball, we can do a little bit better than that,” Bruton said.

“We had a lot less turnovers, but the ones we did have hurt us, we could have reduced that.

“We are almost at the halfway mark and everyone is fighting and juggling, but it’s about chipping away bit by bit and making sure we prepare right for the next game.”

That next game is Sunday afternoon at John Cain Arena against South East Melbourne Phoenix.
