Adelaide 36ers head coach Mike Wells is excited to take his team on the road during the NBL25 pre-season schedule.
The 36ers were to tip-off a six-game pre-season schedule on Sunday evening, but the two-game pre-season series against Tasmania JackJumpers was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions.
Wells said being on the road will be a great opportunity for his squad to get together and bond while also working on new-found chemistry.
“I think it’s going to be good being on the road will limit our distractions,” Wells said.
“It simplifies things to be in a hotel where we can have some group meetings and some individual meetings.
“This will put us in an environment where we can be around each other.”
Wells said he has been pleased with how the group is ‘coming together’ on and off the floor.
“After about seven or eight practices, it’s great to play against somebody else, that will give us a better idea of where we are at,” Wells said.
“Being on the road, we can use those things to rally the group a little bit and come together.
“We have had eight days to get our ideas and concepts across to the guys and we are going against a group which is obviously well established.”

Wells has had his full roster under one roof at training this week with the arrival of import duo Kendric Davis and Jarell Martin, along with the return of Paris Olympian Sunday Dech.
“It’s great to get everyone together. To have Kendric, Jarell and Sunday join the group we can start building that chemistry,” Wells said.
“We need to build communication and build that foundation that hopefully leads us to success.”
The team will be back on the training court on Sunday ahead of the trip to Mount Gambier on Wednesday, September 4, when the 36ers host Brisbane Bullets at Wulanda Recreation Centre.
