Dech says defence will be key against Tassie

Adelaide 36ers guard Sunday Dech said the focus is firmly set on Tasmania JackJumpers in Saturday night’s ADF Appreciation Round home match at the Entertainment Centre.
Dech said the 36ers have moved on from last Saturday night’s defeat in Perth to the Wildcats and will be looking at turning up the heat on the offensive weapons Tasmania possess, led by import duo Milton Doyle and Jordon Crawford.
“We got to come back and look at our processes, especially defensively,” Dech told media on Tuesday.
“All our intentions are now on the JackJumpers as the games come thick and fast.”

The 195cm swingman said despite the 99-88 loss at RAC Arena, he believed his side still improved but need to lock in on a few areas.
“There were some patches there where we played good basketball,” Dech said.
“We have been playing great basketball and we did also during that game.”
Adelaide 36ers will celebrate Remembrance Day with an ADF Appreciation Round and have partnered with Saab Australia to bring to life a special home game experience.
“It’s a special milestone and it’s something where we are fortunate to celebrate all those people who went into battle for us,” Dech said.
“We have some players on the team with some links to the armed forces, so it will be a special moment for them too.”
Dech said Jacob Wiley is in good spirits after struggling with gastro during the loss to the Wildcats which saw the import forward not play in the second half.
“I’m one of the lucky ones, it has hit the boys pretty hard, it’s hit our coaching staff pretty hard,” Dech said.
“Our medical staff are on top of everything, so everyone gets what they need.”
Wiley was not at training on Tuesday but will play on Saturday, while Jason Cadee also missed training but is in no doubt for the clash against Tasmania.
Head coach CJ Bruton and assistant coach Craig Simpson also were not at training on Tuesday out of precaution.
“Everyone stepped up today and great job from Ninny (assistant coach Scott Ninnis) for taking the session today, and we need to keep building,” Dech said.
