DJ Vasiljevic announced as part of 17-man squad for 2024 Paris Olympics

Adelaide 36ers guard DJ Vasiljevic is one step close to realising his Olympic dream after being named in the 17-man Boomers squad on Thursday.

The 190cm guard, who was part of the 25-man squad named earlier in the year, has made the cut for a chance to represent the green-and-gold in Paris this July.

Vasiljevic has been included after starring in NBL24, where he averaged almost 20 points per game, and FIBA 2025 Asia Cup Qualifiers in early 2024.

“It’s always an honour to make these squads, it’s the main reason I came back to the NBL,” Vasiljevic said.

“I think I put myself in a great position playing for Adelaide and allowing him to see the real me and how I can impact a game.

“Now I just look forward to the camp and see how things go.”

Boomers head coach Brian Goorjian said the 17-man squad is a great mix of emerging youth and experience.

“The standard of the tournament is going to be at an all-time high and we’re excited with the group that we’ve put together,” said Goorjian.

“It’s a special group and an exciting time for basketball and the country. We will get the guys together and get the energy right.”

The Boomers kick off the run with all players reporting to camp in late June before the first hit out in the Ford BALLIN’24 series in Melbourne against China from July 2-5.
