Adelaide 36ers shooting guard Anthony Drmic is embracing life in the starting five and has sparked a new intensity among the group.
Drmic, who had 14 points and six assists in Adelaide’s 96-82 win against Perth Wildcats at RAC Arena on Thursday night, said he will do whatever it takes to help his side.
“There is that role now that needs to be filled and I’m just trying to start the game and set the tone defensively,” Drmic said.
“With the intensity, bringing everything I’ve got and it seems to be doing pretty good.”
Drmic has flourished in his starting role, averaging 13.2 points in the past five games since head coach CJ Bruton inserted the 198cm swingman into the opening quintet.
Adelaide has also picked up their offensive production, and Drmic said it’s all about everyone having that faith in their teammates.
“It’s been a focus, sharing the ball. I feel like at the start of the season we weren’t sharing the ball as much as we would have liked to,” Drmic said.
“We really have a strength down low with (Robert) Franks and DJ (Daniel Johnson), so sharing the ball, getting it down there and moving off that is giving us some open looks. It’s fun to play that way.
“I feel we are very strong offensively. Anyone we put out there can go out and get buckets, it’s all about having that focus of sharing the ball and whoever is open is going to shoot it.”
Adelaide’s next battle is against a firing Cairns Taipans outfit next Friday night on Brett Maher Court at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
