An outstanding opening half from former Adelaide 36ers NBL Next Star Josh Giddey wasn’t enough as the Boomers fell 93-83 to Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
After going into the main interval with a 49-45 lead, Canada turned up the heat on the defensive end to run away with the 10-point success, the Boomers now needing to defeat Giannis Antetokounmpo's Greece to ensure a quarter-final berth.

Giddey was one of the main standouts for the Aussies, scoring 19 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing six assists.
Tokyo bronze medallists Australia, who impressively beat Spain 92-80 in their Paris 2024 Olympic Games opener, will play the winless Greece on Friday.
Victory would likely see them finish second and earn a ticket to the quarter-finals, while a loss would likely leave them among a pack of teams hoping to be there as one of the two best-performed, third-placed teams.
