Ninnis signs on for two seasons

The Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce the appointment of Scott Ninnis as Head Coach for the next two NBL seasons.

The 318-game NBL veteran will coach the Club for a second time after stepping in for the last 15 games of the NBL24 season as interim head coach, finishing with an 8-7 win-loss record.

Ninnis said he is delighted to be back leading the Club which has been a big part of his basketball journey.

“I’m super excited to be back. 14 years ago I was out of the NBL completely, so to return as Coach of the Club I love, where I have had a 40-year association, is a dream come true,” Ninnis said.

“The last 15 games were something of an audition for me,  and proved to me that I still have the hunger to compete and win”. 

“For all of us, the hard work starts now.”

Adelaide 36ers Executive Chairman Grant Kelley said the Head Coach appointment was exciting for the Club on the back of the results this calendar year.

“We have had tremendous success so far in 2024 with Scott at the helm. His turnaround of the team, and the inspiration he has given our fans, has been nothing short of phenomenal,” Kelley said.

“It’s wonderful also to have a South Australian back as Head Coach, given the depth at club-level in this state, and Scott’s proven ability to identify and  develop talent.

Ninnis, who won seven of the last 10 games, and the last five home games at the Entertainment Centre, returns as Head Coach after leading the 36ers during the 2008/09 and 2009/10 NBL campaigns.

“I’ve learned a lot in the back half of the season and I’m a totally different coach to the one who was Head Coach all those years ago,” Ninnis said.
