Shooting for new focus against Bullets

Adelaide 36ers will be taking it “one game at a time” when the side travel to Brisbane to face a revitalised Bullets side on Thursday night at Nissan Arena.

The Bullets won their first match in almost a month on Monday night against playoff contender South East Melbourne Phoenix and even though that result helped Adelaide’s playoff chances, it should also be sent as a major warning.

Brisbane looked like a side which had found their rhythm and are looking to finish off what has been an underwhelming season for them, in style.

The equation for Adelaide is simple, the 36ers must win, and move on to the next challenge.

THE KEY
Jason Cadee was the reason the Bullets claimed a 84-79 win against South East Melbourne at the State Basketball Centre on Monday night.

Cadee scored a game-high 28 points and came up with some huge plays down the stretch as Brisbane won their first match since December 27.

The 186cm point guard is averaging 11 points, 4.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds per night this season, but caught fire against the Phoenix as the Bullets ended a five-game losing skid.

Cadee is no stranger to Adelaide fans, having played for the 36ers for two seasons, including be part of the 2014 NBL grand final series.

THE SECRET
He’s really no secret to 36ers fans, but Nathan Sobey looms large as a big threat to the Adelaide defence.

Sobey caught fire during the Bullets’ 87-84 loss to the 36ers at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on December 29, scoring 24 points and nearly single-handedly got Brisbane across the line.

The 190cm combo guard can fill up the scoreboard at a rapid rate and loves playing on Nissan Arena.

Antonius Cleveland should be set the Sobey assignment in a match-up which could shape the outcome of the match.

THE FINAL WORD
Adelaide head coach CJ Bruton said his side is taking it “one game at a time” on Tuesday and that’s exactly the mindset the 36ers should have.

Having already accounted for the Bullets twice at home this season, the trip to Brisbane is as close to a ‘must win’ as any game so far in NBL23.

Brisbane big man Harry Froling gave the 36ers an ominious warning after the Bullets’ win against the Phoenix.

“We are coming to ruin teams’ seasons,” Froling said.

This comment should be more than enough to have an Adelaide side playing for their season, to be switched on from the opening tip.
