The Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce that Lachlan Olbrich has signed a Development Player contract for the 2021/2022 NBL season.
The 208 cm Olbrich is one of South Australia’s rising talents and is still yet to turn 18 years of age. He has been growing his game at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Canberra and will return to Adelaide to join the 36ers as the Club’s first DP signing for the coming season. Olbrich will integrate into the squad’s preseason program shortly as preparations continue for the December 3rd season start.
Olbrich was part of South Australia‘s Bronze medal team at this year’s U/20’s National Championships where he led the event in steals per game (2.4) and was third in overall rebounds (8.8 per game). Olbrich represented SA Metro in both 2020 and 2021 after averages of 23 points per game while part of the Southern Tigers U/18 Division 1 team which won both the Summer and Winter titles.
Adelaide 36ers GM of Basketball, Jeff Van Groningen noted the strong development of Olbrich and welcomed him to the Club. “Lachy’s a player who has caught our attention for the last year or two and we’ve been impressed by his path and by strong feedback from Marty (Clarke) and the staff at the COE. We welcome Lachy as an emerging SA talent and congratulate him on securing this DP contract”.
Head Coach, CJ Bruton added, “I’m super excited to have one of South Australia's elite young juniors joining us. Lachy has shown great strides in his development over the last few years and I'm looking forward to helping him continue his growth with us.”
