ADELAIDE 36ERS vs CAIRNS TAIPANS
It was a huge weekend of basketball for the Adelaide 36ers.The guys had a point to prove back at Adelaide Entertainment Centre and they did exactly that with captain Mitch McCarron leading the charge in an 83-57 win over the Taipans.
The Sixers were in front for most of the night and ended up blowing the game wide open in the fourth quarter with an 18-0 run on the way to the fitting 26-point victory.
Captain Mitch McCarron scored 11 points in the first quarter alone on his way to 21 for the game to go with 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals on shooting 4/7 from three-point territory.
"As a group we have been frustrated, the coaching staff have been frustrated. It has been a reflection week and it sure feels good to get back to the winners table", said McCarron during the post-game press conference.
There were plenty more impressive contributors for the Sixers including Cam Bairstow with 12 points and six rebounds, and Tad Dufelmeier 10 points and five boards. The full match report can be found here.
MELBOURNE UNITED vs ADELAIDE 36ERS
The team then hit the road and played Melbourne United at John Cain Arena on Sunday afternoon but despite starting on fire, United took the eventual 101-74 victory.
The efforts of Daniel Johnson continue to be impressive top scoring for the Club with 18 points and four rebounds; meanwhile, Tad Dufelmeier also had a hot start and finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Kai Sotto continued his impressive form with another 12 points and four boards. The full match report can be found here.

36ERS IN MEDIA
It was a big weekend both on and off the court for Kai Sotto who sat down with SBS Filipino and spoke on his dreams, mentors and the key to finding success in basketball.
"Moving to another country was a big step for me in pursuing my NBA dream but it wasn’t that difficult since my parents and siblings were by my side supporting my decision...My father plays a big role in my basketball career; he taught me to respect the game", said Sotto.
"I remember playing basketball in the streets back in Manila where my father encouraged me to play as a young boy, every fall, every bruise helped me become the player I am It wasn’t easy but it helped shape me into the player I am today".

As part of our partnership with the State Government’s THINK! Road Safety initiative, players and coaching staff were joined by Department for Infrastructure and Transport and South Australia Police last week for an education session. It was extremely insightful to hear their firsthand stories and experiences to reiterate the importance of road safety and educate the team. The Club thanks the Department and South Australia Police for their time and work and remind the Sixers community to THINK! Road Safety next time you are out on the road.
