Cadee again leads rampant Rollers to success

Returning Adelaide 36ers point guard Jason Cadee continues to rack up the assist numbers in the NBL1 North competition and his Gold Coast Rollers are on a tear.

The 186cm general scored 21 points, dished a huge 16 assists and grabbed five rebounds as the Rollers withstood a late rally from South West Metro Pirates to win 102-99 on Saturday night at Carrara.

Cadee played the entire 40 minutes, and hit clutch free throws late as the Rollers moved to third place on the conference standings with a 7-2 record.

The injured Kyrin Galloway (thumb) looked on as his Ipswich Force remained in second place on the ladder after a tough 111-102 win against USC Rip City at home.

Gold Coast host Townsville Heat this Friday night, while Ipswich are on the road for a Sunday afternoon battle against Northside Wizards.

Adelaide 36ers captain Mitch McCarron wasn’t required to do much on Saturday night as his West Adelaide Bearcats made an NBL1 Central statement against Forestville Eagles.

The Bearcats scored 15 of the first 17 points of the contest and won every quarter in a 100-54 rout which will put the competition on notice.

McCarron, who has been on triple double watch for most of the season, had four points, four rebounds and two assists.

Keanu Rasmussen was on target as Sturt went 2-0 in a huge double header weekend for the Sabres, which saw them move up to second up the standings.

Rasmussen had 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals as the Sabres used a big third quarter to defeat Southern Tigers 90-80 at Morphett Vale on Saturday night.

The newly-signed Development Player backed up with another 14 points, three rebounds and two assists as the Sabres made it two-from-two with a huge 87-59 win against South Adelaide Panters at Mitchell Park.

Assistant coach Scott Ninnis had a weekend to forget as his South Adelaide Panthers lost both its matches on their home floor to drop to a 7-3 record.

South Adelaide lost a thriller 77-73 to North Adelaide Rockets on Saturday night, before being overpowered in the final quarter by Sturt Sabres on Sunday afternoon to go down 87-59.

NBL1 Central has this weekend off due to the Basketball SA State Junior Championships.

Nick Marshall had a team-high 19 points to go with 11 rebounds and five assists but it wasn’t enough to stop his Mount Gambier Pioneers losing a third straight NBL1 South game to Waverley Falcons last Friday night.

Mount Gambier led by three points at the main break, but the Falcons overpowered the Pioneers in a dominant third quarter to run out 77-71 winners.

The Pioneers are back at their Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre home this Friday night against Sandringham Sabres.
