The Adelaide 36ers are delighted to announce the signing of versatile guard Flynn Cameron on a three-year deal.
Cameron joins the 36ers after playing the NBL25 season with Melbourne United, where he played a key role off the bench in a team that finished the regular season in the top 2 and reached the NBL Championship Series.
Head Coach Mike Wells spoke about the decision to pursue Cameron and the steps the organisation took to secure the signing.
“I thought when we were looking at all the people that are young agents, he fits our timeline as a club,” Wells said. “He’s been a valuable player at Melbourne United behind some really, really good players, and we have an opportunity for him to take the next step—from a playing standpoint, and from a player development standpoint.”
Wells also touched on what Cameron brings to the team, highlighting his flexibility and on-court impact.
“He brings a whole bunch of different things,” Wells continued. “He’s a multiple ball-handler, can play multiple positions, can defend multiple positions.”
Wells took a personal approach during in the recruitment process of Cameron.
“I flew over (to Auckland, NZ) and met with him in person so he knew how serious we were about trying to acquire him,” he said. “To get him to sign with us in Adelaide and lay out my vision with him as a player, in his personal development, and that role within our team.”
Standing at 6'5", Cameron is known across the league for his ability to impact both ends of the floor. GM of Basketball Matt Weston echoed the excitement, praising the new recruit’s adaptability.
“He's like a Swiss Army knife,” Weston said. “He can play and defend positions 1 through 4. You can't get enough of that kind of versatility.”
Weston also recalled Cameron’s standout performance against the 36ers earlier in the season.
“When we played Melbourne the first time, he did an amazing job. He's young, shoots the ball well, a lefty, defends well, and has length. There's a lot of upside to him, and we see him as a real long-term project in this program.”
Cameron joins DJ Vasiljevic, Isaac Humphries, Keanu Rasmussen, Ben Griscti, Isaac White, and Michael Harris on the 36ers’ NBL26 roster.
