Adelaide 36ers shooting guard Sunday Dech said the side is looking at the second half of the NBL23 season as a fresh start to their campaign.
Currently with a 6-8 record, the 36ers begin a four-game home stand starting on Saturday night against Brisbane Bullets at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Dech said his side has the ‘next game only’ focus, with Adelaide looking to snap a three-game losing streak against the Bullets.
“Has to be (one game at a time), to turn the page a bit, we are on a losing streak which we are not happy about,” Dech said.
“But, at the end of the day, we still have 14 more games and for us is to resetting, getting a fresh start and having this week to prepare has really helped us a lot.”
Dech said the 36ers will be wary of a Brisbane side who has been hit with controversary this week, with interim head coach Sam MacKinnon released of his duties to focus on his GM of basketball role, replaced by assistant coach Greg Vanderjagt.
“There is nothing more dangerous than a side that have their backs against the wall and have a nothing to lose mentality,” Dech said.
“There has been a fair bit going on up there in Brisbane, but I assume this is something that galvanises the group and they will be ready to fire.”
The 195cm swingman said Adelaide has had a good week on the training court this week and the side is in good spirits to spend the festive season at home.
“We have been on the road a little bit so it’s good to be here for an extended time to get ready for Brisbane,” Dech said.
