The Adelaide 36ers can confirm that Jeff Van Groningen has resigned from his role as General Manager Basketball, effective 25th February 2022, to pursue other opportunities.
Jeff joined the Club in December 2019 and oversaw a period of change and stability through the unparalleled challenges of COVID-19.
Jeff Van Groningen said, “The Adelaide 36ers are a proud and dynamic organisation and it’s been a real privilege to work at this Club. I’d like to sincerely thank Chairman Grant Kelley who invited me to take this position at the tail end of 2019 just prior to the world changing. The two years since, while ‘Covid-challenged‘ have only added to the relationships I’ve been humbled to have amassed in my 28 years in the sport, and I’m thankful for the trust shown my way by players including those who have moved on to a bigger stage. This chapter is complete as I now move into new opportunities that are unfolding within this great game, as well as spending time with my family. I wish all at the Sixers success and know that the players are in great hands with CJ on deck.”
Adelaide 36ers Chairman Grant Kelley said, "Over the past two years Jeff has accomplished a great deal for the Adelaide 36ers, most notably the successful recruitment and development of Josh Giddey. Jeff has also contributed in multiple ways outside of the court, including mentorship of players and staff. He leaves with our utmost respect and sincere best wishes for continued success in the next stage of his career."
