I'm always staying ready: Sotto

Adelaide 36ers centre Kai Sotto says “staying ready” has been the key as he continues to play a bigger role in NBL23.
The 218cm centre, who had 16 points and five rebounds in the 85-83 loss to New Zealand Breakers at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Sunday, says defence has been key to his success.
“That’s my primary role on this team with my size, it’s the first thing I think of when I step on the court is to have that impact defensively and everything else will follow,” Sotto said.
Sotto played a major role under the hoop at both ends of the floor against the Breakers, changing a number of shots and containing Dererk Pardon, while also throwing down some thunderous dunks at the other end.
“I’m always staying ready for all the opportunities my coaches give me,” Sotto said.
The increased playing time has given Sotto more confidence, especially since playing his way into the starting line-up last month.
“Every practice and every game I get to have I show my teammates can rely on me,” Sotto said.
“So, I’m always staying ready.”
