Adelaide 36ers captain Mitch McCarron said his side is fully committed for the final three games of the NBL23 regular season.
McCarron said the 36ers, who are currently have an 11-14 record after last Saturday night’s loss to Melbourne United at a sold out Adelaide Entertainment Centre, now have to play for pride.
“Everyone is disappointed, we all had high aspirations at the start of the season after the pre-season we had,” McCarron said.
“We have a few games left here and we want to play for pride, play for the fans and try and get some wins.”
The 189cm guard said his side knew what to expect coming into NBL23, especially after shocking the world in the 134-124 win against the Phoenix Suns in October.
“We knew it was going to be a super competitive season, we think we would be up the top if we played to our potential, unfortunately we didn’t reach that, it’s disappointing for everybody,” McCarron said.
“For now, we just got to go out and get three wins, at the end of the day, that’s all that matters,
“We play hard, we play for each other and enjoy the rest of the season.”
McCarron said the club is not focussing on next season at all yet, with the sole focus being the final three games of the regular season.
“We can’t go and start making changes now, we have three games left,” McCarron said.
Adelaide have three games left, starting with a trip to Cairns to play the Taipans next Monday night.
“It’s going to be competitive games against those teams, we are seeing teams down the bottom of the ladder playing really well,” McCarron said.
“No one is an easy beat in this competition, so we just have to go in, play hard, and get the win.”
