Mitch McCarron has nothing to lose

The Sixers have been frustrated in recent weeks and Captain Mitch McCarron has had plenty of hurdles thrown at him during a five-game losing run that almost reached breaking point last Saturday.
Speaking on Rowey’s Sports Show, McCarron spoke about the previous weeks’ hardship and his optimism leading up to their double header against the Taipans and United over the weekend.
“It was obviously a rough weekend against the Breakers on Saturday but I’m feeling pumped and looking forward to the double header. We’ve now got our backs against the wall and have nothing to lose”, McCarron said.
“Following the [Breakers] game the guys were all really frustrated, and I know after the game I wasn’t ready to leave the stadium yet. I just had to clear my own mental. I felt like I didn’t give myself a chance to play the right way and was putting my energy into the wrong things. I had to mentally reset before Friday night against the Taipans”.
McCarron felt he had a point to prove and did exactly that taking his frustrations onto the floor Friday night at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

The captain scored 11 points in the first quarter alone on his way to 21 for the game to go with 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals on shooting 4/7 from three-point territory.
“It’s been a challenging season personally and it’s really just been a reflection week for me. It sure feels good to get back on the winners table”, said McCarron.
The Sixers then met the league-leaders Melbourne United on Sunday afternoon, and the match marked Mitch’s first return to John Cain Arena where he last sported the Melbourne United jersey.
“It’s obviously cool to come back and see both new and familiar faces, but at the end of the day we were there to get the win. It isn’t so much about me it’s always about the team”.
Look out for Mitch back at Adelaide Entertainment Centre when the Adelaide 36ers face Southeast Melbourne Phoenix Sunday, 27 March at 12:30pm ACDT.
