This Saturday, the Adelaide 36ers for one night only will turn into Nightwing to play Cairns Taipans in the NBL’s DC Multiverse round.
Adelaide’s Nightwing uniform was launched on Monday at Gotham Collectibles with Sunday Dech, Trentyn Flowers and Murray Magpie catching up with Batman and the Batmobile.
Dech said the NBL has done a great job in making the rounds more versatile and is a big fan of this season’s uniform.
“This year is DC Round and it’s super cool,” Dech said.
“Growing up as kids, spectators, families, everyone watches cartoons, animations, so it’s pretty cool to be out here and our jerseys look awesome.
“Everyone wants to be Batman, but Nightwing looks pretty cool.”
Members, fans and supporters are encouraged to come to Saturday night’s game dressed as your favourite superhero, and you have the chance to meet Batman and Batmobile in The Orb pre-game.
There will also be a Superhero tug of war at quarter time, a special Sixers Squad performance at half time and a Superhero t-shirt giveaway at three quarter time.
Who is Nightwing?
Nightwing is a superhero that has captured the hearts of comic book fans for decades.
With his acrobatics, intelligence, and fearless attitude, Nightwing has become one of the most recognisable characters in the DC universe.
From his humble beginnings as Robin, the Boy Wonder, his evolution to Nightwing has become a symbol of hope and inspiration to many.
The origin of Batman’s protege can be traced back to the early days of the caped crusader's crime-fighting career.
When Bruce Wayne first donned the mantle of the Dark Knight, he needed a partner to help him take on the criminal underworld of Gotham City.
He chose a young circus acrobat named Dick Grayson and trained him to become the first Robin, the Boy Wonder. For many years, Robin worked alongside Batman, fighting crime and keeping the citizens of Gotham safe.
But as he grew older and gained more experience, Robin began to get angry at the restrictions placed upon him as Batman's sidekick.
He longed to strike out on his own and forge his path as a superhero.
