Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton said his side wasn't able to take away any of the Tasmania JackJumpers' shots in the 98-82 loss on Thursday night.
The JackJumpers halted the 36ers' momentum at crucial moments with a flurry of threes and never looked back.
"It was tit for that and they're a team who is very good at controlling the tempo of the ball, moving the ball and taking the select shot they want to get," he said.
"I wanted to take away a few of their shots which we weren't able to do.
"(Milton) Doyle was good, he's been playing great all season and credit to him, Jack (McVeigh) stepped up today as he has been all season.
"I was happy with our guys with how we shared the ball early, on the offensive end we got the looks we wanted to get.
"Defensively, we had some breakdowns here and there, and the offensive boards which got kick out three balls, the timely ones which kept us at a point where we weren't able to be in front and find that balance.
"They did a good job of getting to the three-point line, making some shots when they needed to."
Bruton did highlight Robert Franks' performance, with the power forward finishing with 24 points and three rebounds.
However, the 36ers' best for the night was frustrated, particularly with finding himself in foul trouble midway through the third.
"I've got to just be smarter and stick to the scout," he said.
"We weren't getting stops, they were able to set up their defence and pick us up full court.
"It comes down to getting stops and running, that's when we're at our best."
Adelaide next takes on Perth Wildcats on Saturday night in an open air game.
