The Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce they will face the New Zealand Breakers at Adelaide 36ers Arena on Saturday March 12th, 7:30pm in Round 15 of the Hungry Jacks National Basketball League (NBL).
The fixture is an official New Zealand Breakers NBL22 home game, however given current international border restrictions, the Club is unable to play any of their NBL22 home games in New Zealand.
Home to the Adelaide 36ers training base, the club will celebrate the important history and memories at the stadium during its almost 30 years of action and the game will mark the 20th anniversary since the club won their last championship at the Arena in 2002.
Adelaide 36ers Chief Executive Officer Nic Barbato said “the Arena has a special bond with the 36ers family, and we are delighted to return for what is going to be a game to remember and celebration of our history. We also would like to acknowledge the significant sacrifices the entire New Zealand Breakers organization have made to participate in this season’s NBL competition away from family, friends, and the Club’s fans”.
NBL Hall of Famer and former 36ers champion Brett Maher said “I’m excited to catch up with the team from the 01/02 Championship. Looking forward to reminisce about the year and see how everyone is going”.
The NBL will stage Indigenous Round across Rounds 14 and 15 of the 2021/22 season.
Indigenous Round will celebrate, recognise and acknowledge Indigenous culture across Australia and New Zealand.
Round 14 will tip-off on Friday March 4 when the Adelaide 36ers host the South East Melbourne Phoenix at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The 36ers will then play at their traditional home on March 12 when the New Zealand Breakers host a home game at the Adelaide 36ers Arena.
All games will be broadcast live on ESPN via Kayo or Foxtel and the ESPN App.
